Bible Trivia :)

Some Bible trivia for you all :)

1.) Apologetics is originated from Greek “apologia” which means “defence”. When we give apologetics in front of people, it does not mean that we “apologize/saying sorry” for being a Christian. Rather, we “give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (1 Pet 3:15)

2.) The Bible was once written in Latin and was a forbidden book-not any common people were allowed to read it. We are hugely indebted to the William Tyndale who was determined to translate the Bible to English so much so that he will “cause the boy that driveth the plow to know more of the Scriptures than thou dost” (referring to a clergyman at that time).

3.) The Ark of the Covenant is made of wood and gold. In the Bible, wood speaks of human nature while gold speaks of divine nature. The Ark of the Covenant symbolizes Lord Jesus Himself, who is fully human and fully God.

4.) The Law of Moses consists of three parts: the civil law, the ceremonial law and the moral law. The civil law (law about slavery, etc) only applies to ancient Israel. The ceremonial law (law of burnt offering, etc) is no longer applicable as it has been completely fulfilled by Lord Jesus Himself. The moral law (the Ten Commandments) still applies to us.

5.) Luke was a Greek-educated physician who wrote the book of Luke and Acts. Due to his Greek-educational background, he wrote with such an incredible accuracy such that he “should be placed along with the very greatest historians”(Sir William Ramsay)

Gym Session: Expo to SIS

Today I helped out in shifting stuffs from Expo Hall 8 to SIS. I initially only planned to help out in SIS. However, an Attributes friend called me asking for some help in Expo too. I then immediately left lab earlier and rushed to Expo Hall 8. Whenever Attributes people call for help, it means there is something really urgent and important.

After mounting the bookstore stuffs to the truck and courier van, I headed down to SIS with 2 other Attributes friends with cab.

29072010143

It was super empty in North Entrance of SIS

Finally, I unloaded stuffs there.

I was practically exhausted… Luckily at the end reinforcement arrived.

Sign, Flow. Naruto Shippuden Opening 6

Hmm, somehow I feel like posting about Naruto Shippuden Opening: Sign by Flow. I think it is a super good opening, depicting sad separation between Naruto and Jiraiya. For me personally, I could identify myself with some parts of the lyrics.

If you want to see the full video, click here:

Well, the lyrics is as follows (thanks to http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/f/flow/sign.html)

———————————————Intro——————————————-

I realize the screaming pain
Hearing loud in my brain
But I’m going straight ahead, with the scar
(Can you hear me So am I)

—————————————Verse (1)———————————-

Wasurete shimaeba ii yo kanjinakunacchaeba ii
Surimuita kokoro ni futa o shitanda
Kizutsuitatte heikidayo mou itami wa nai kara ne
Sono ashi o hikizuri nagara mo

Miushinatta
Jibun jishin ga
Oto o tatete
Kuzureteitta
Kizukeba kaze no oto dake ga

Go ahead and forget, Go ahead and stop feeling
I covered up my wounded heart
It’s fine if I get hurt cause I don’t feel pain anymore
Even while dragging those feet along

I lost sight of myself, The sound rose and fell
Before I knew it just the sound of the wind

—————————————Chorus (1)———————————-

Tsutaeni kitayo kizuato tadotte
Sekai ni oshitsubusarete shimau mae ni
Oboeterukana namida no sora o
Ano itami ga kimi no koto o mamotte kureta
Sono itami ga itsumo kimi o mamotterunda
(Can you hear me So am I)

That comes to tell me follow the scars
Before you are crushed by the world
Do you remember the sky of tears?
The pain that protected you
That pain is always protecting you

CAN YOU HEAR ME?
SO AM I

————————————————–Verse (2)——————————————–

Kizutsukanai tsuyosa yori mo
Kizutsukenai yasashisa o
Sono koe wa dokoka kanashisoude

Kakechigaeta
Botan mitai ni
Kokoro karada
Hanareteita
Mou ichido kokoro o tsukande

More than a strength that doesn’t cause wounds a kindness that can’t wound
Some part of that voice seems sad

Like undoing buttons heart and body separate
Take a grasp of you heart one more time

———————————————————Chorus (1)————————————————–

Tsutaeni kitayo kizuato tadotte
Sekai ni oshitsubusarete shimau mae ni
Oboeterukana namida no sora o
Ano itami ga kimi no koto o mamotte kureta
Sono itami ga itsumo kimi o mamotterunda

(Can you hear me So am I)

That comes to tell me follow the scars
Before you are crushed by the world
Do you remember the sky of tears?
The pain that protected you
That pain is always protecting you

CAN YOU HEAR ME?
SO AM I

—————————————–Verse (3)————————————-

Mitsukekita
Ano nakigoe wa
Machigainaku sou
Jibun nodatta
Subete wa kono toki no tame ni

I’ve found it that crying voice no doubt that’s right it was my own
All of it was for this moment

——————————————————–Acoustic Verse——————————————–

Kitto hajime kara wakkatetanda
Mou ni do to jibun dake wa hanasanaide
Kizuite kureta
Kimi he no aizu
Ano itami ga kimi no koto o mamottekureta

I’m sure from the beginning you always knew
that I wouldn’t ever let go of myself again
you noticed a sign to you
The pain that protected you

—————————–Chorus (2)—————————————–

Tsutae ni kitayo kizuato tadotte
Sore nara mou osoreru mono wa naindatto
Wasurenaidene egao no wake o
Ano itami ga kimi no koto o mamottekureta
Ano itami ga kimi no koto o mamottekureta
Sono itami ga itsumo kimi o mamotterunda
(Can you hear me so am I)

That comes to tell me follow the scars
If you do there’s nothing more to fear
Don’t forget okay the reason for smiling
The pain that protected you
The pain that protected you
That pain is always protecting you

CAN YOU HEAR ME?
CAN YOU HEAR ME?
CAN YOU HEAR ME?
SO AM I

Insect Here and There

Whenever I first came to NTU, I thought, “This university is in the middle of jungle!” Well, I am not alone. Many people who came to NTU for the first time with 199 bus thought the same too :P

But really, NTU has plenty trees, various plants and big garden. Hence, we live very close to insects.

One of them managed to pass through the door (although the door is made of Sanjū Rashōmon) and showed up in the lab :P

Free Food!!

I was in my boss’ room, discussing a project. Suddenly a lab officer (LO) came.

LO:        Jefri, you are very lucky. I brought this. A student baked for us.

27072010135 27072010136

LO:       Is it nice?

Me:      Yes. Of course.

LO:       You can take it all

Hohoho, it was a nice stuff: a mixture of butter, caramel, sugar and pineapple. Effectively, the student baked for me :P

A few moments ago, my boss called me to his office.

Dr. Y.:   Jefri, you are very lucky.

27072010137 27072010140

Dr. Y.:   It’s very fattening.

Me:     Losing weight is easy

Yes, losing weight is easy for me :P :P

Apparently, it really contains much fat. The trick is to separate the meat and the fat :P

Thank God for such a favor from man!! :D

Baldness

Just an old joke.

Some people have baldness in the front part of their head. This maybe a good thing because it indicates that they are people who like to think things through. On the other hand, some people have baldness at the back part of their head. This also maybe a good thing because it indicates that they are highly intelligent people. However, it is definitely not a good sign for people to have baldness in the front and back part of their head. Why?

Answer (please highlight next sentence):These people like to think that they are highly intelligent people themselves.

Enjoy! :P

Last Saturday’s Quotes

Last Saturday I got two memorable quotes.

1.) Pastor Tan preached about staying faithful to God even in the midst of trial and suffering. In such situation, “it is ok to shout and cry, as long as you do it within the House of God,“ he mentioned.

That is so true… Actually, in the inside I am crying although on the outside I don’t look sad (hohoho, this is a secret, so please don’t ask, ok? :P). Nevertheless, I can always shout and cry before God… :)

2.)  After duty last Saturday, I had dinner with two bookstore friends. One of them shared: “Nobody is perfect. In a relationship, this imperfection should be tolerable.”

Of course, it depends on the type of imperfection. But yeah, I absolutely agree with her: I need to train myself to have a big heart :)

What an insightful Saturday!
