30, 60 and 100 Fold Harvest Return

“The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly hear and understand God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” (Matt 13:23, NLT 2007)

A preacher preaches this message, “Give to the LORD and you will receive 30, 60 and even 100 fold return.”
Someone criticizes this preacher, “Matt 13:23 has nothing to do with giving.”
So, who is right in this matter? Is the preacher correct in his doctrine? Or, is the preacher correctly criticized?

I would like to argue that the answer is:

Matt 13:23 is indirectly applicable to giving and receiving.

How is that possible? Let me build my argument:

1.) Giving is indeed like sowing and reaping…………………………………………………………………… equation (1) giving = sowing

This is absolutely correct as far as Apostle Paul is concerned:

“But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.” (II Corinthians 9:6, KJV)

2.) 30, 60, 100 fold corresponds to sowing in general……………………………………………………… equation (2) sowing = 30, 60, 100 fold return.

Matt 13:23 indeed does not talk about giving. Yet the real question is: can the same passage be applied to giving?

Consider this figure of speech:

– Speedy Gonzales runs fast like an eagle. Although the context of this sentence is Speedy Gonzales, it assumes that in general eagle indeed moves fast.
– Hercules is strong like lion. Although the context of this sentence is Hercules, it assumes that in general lion is indeed strong.
– Bill Gates’ wealth is as big as elephant. Although the context of this sentence is Bill Gates’ wealth, it assumes that in general elephant is indeed big.
– Brad Pitt is as handsome as Jefri. Although the context of this sentence is Bradd Pitt, it assumes that …… (please continue it yourself) Smile with tongue out

Matt 13:23 basically says: fruitfulness of the Word of God is 30 fold, 60 fold and 100 fold just like how much someone can harvest from a field. Although the context of this passage is God’s Word, it assumes that indeed harvest return can be 30, 60 and 100 fold in general.

So, by virtue of equation (1) and (2) above, giving tithe and offering indeed gives harvest to us 30, 60 and 100 fold.

My dear readers, let’s keep giving to the LORD, shall we? Smile
