Rejoice With Those Who Rejoice

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.” (Rm 12:15 ,NIV)

Somehow, I think mourning with those who mourn is easier than rejoicing with those who rejoice.

When we see our friends who are sad, mourning, wailing and weeping because of bad things, we tend to sympathize with them, offer them as much help as we could. Or, simply,  we can just provide a listening ear.

Yet, rejoicing with those who rejoice can be extremely difficult, especially if it is our competitors who are rejoicing.

Imagine if your competitor and you are in marathon competition. You try your best but in the end he/she outruns you. Will you be happy, congratulate and shake his/her hand in the end?

Or, if your target girl likes your close friend instead of you, will you wish them happiness ever after?

In their book Godchicks and the Men They Love, Pastor Holly and Philip Wagner teach us to love ourselves. When we love ourselves, we are confident that God has great things in store for us and that our security rests in Him. We don’t get envious when others are blessed simply because God has prepared a specific blessing for us too. Hence, we can rejoice with others.

I shall love myself and rejoice when people around me rejoicing then Smile
