Embarrassing the LORD or Making the LORD Proud

When David committed adultery with Bathsheba, he did not immediately repent.
Instead, Nathan had to rebuke him so he would realize his mistake.
Immediately, David acknowledged his sin. Nathan then replied that God had forgiven him. However, there was bitter consequence

“But by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt, the son born to you will die.” (II Samuel 12:14, NIV, emphasis added)

There were other consequences, but let’s just focus on this one.
Who are these enemies? Satan himself (in the word of Dr. Neil Anderson, author of the book Winning the Battle Within).
David’s sin caused great embarrassment on the LORD’s side.
We can imagine Satan laughing and shouting right in front of the LORD as David fell downward from sin of adultery to sin of murder.
Fortunately, at least David in the end repented.

Let’s compare it with Job.
Again Satan met the LORD one day. There and then, the LORD praised Job in front of Satan.
Not once, but twice the LORD did so.

Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.” (Job 1:8, NIV, emphasis added)
Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.” (Job 2:3, NIV, emphasis added)

So, if right now Satan stands in front of the LORD and they start discussing about us,
what will happen?
Will our life embarrass the LORD,
or,
will it make the LORD proud?

Apologetics of the Day: Human/Ape DNA Similarity??

Human Ape Ancestors

A common argument to support evolution is that since there is more than 90% similarity between our DNA and ape’s, human and ape were descended from the same ancestors.
However, how true is that? Was there really some kind of ape-man who/which evolved to become human, us, today?
There are at least three ways to refute this argument.

1.) DNA similarity points to a common Designer, not necessarily common ancestors.
An architect can use the same materials (same bricks, same mortars, same paint, same floor design, same roofs etc) to build different schools, museums, skyscrapers or even modern pyramids.
Similarly, God can use same (>90% same, that is) DNA sequence to create human and apes.

2.) A small difference in DNA can mean a lot of things, even the opposite ones.
DNA acts like a language code. Rather than seeing the similarity, it is more important to see the information it conveys. We can consider the following 2 statements.

“Many scientists obtain PhD. from famous universities. They do excellent research and they are committed to advance human knowledge. Most importantly, they do believe in evolution.”

and

“Many scientists obtain PhD. from famous universities. They do excellent research and they are committed to advance human knowledge. Most importantly, they do NOT believe in evolution.”

Both statements are more than 90% similar. Yet, they carry totally opposite meaning.
Likewise, a small difference between human’s DNA and ape’s DNA can mean an impassable barrier for evolution (from molecule to man) to occur.

3.) There is 50% similarity between human’s DNA and banana’s. Yet, we are nowhere near banana.
This argument came from an evolutionist himself, Steve Jones.
In essence, before interpreting that there is a common ancestor, what is so great about having more than 90% similarity, anyway?
Is human half banana to begin with? Or is banana half human?

In conclusion, rather than believing in evolution from molecule to man, it makes more sense to believe in the Creator, the God of the Bible.

Video of the Day: A Whole New World

I used to play Aladdin a lot on Super Nintendo.
It was about Aladdin jumping, gliding, throwing apples, and grabbing blue and red gems.
Hence, I used to hear this song a lot too, especially during the ending scene.
Somehow, it is a fascinating song for me. Is it a just the melody? Or, the lyrics? Don’t know.
Anyway, enjoy!

From the cartoon itself.

With full lyrics. (thanks, Youtube!)

(Aladdin:)
I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
you last let your heart decide

I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways, and under
On a magic carpet ride

A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we’re only dreaming

(Jasmine:)
A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But now from way up here
It’s crystal clear
That now I’m in a whole new world
With you

Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky
A whole new world

(Aladdin:) Don’t you dare close your eyes
(Jasmine:) A hundred thousand things to see
(Aladdin:) Hold your breath– it gets better
(Both:) I’m like a shooting star, I’ve come so far
(Jasmine:) I can’t go back to where I used to be
(Aladdin:) A whole new world
With new horizons to pursue
(Both:) I’ll chase them anywhere, there’s time to spare
(Aladdin:) Let me share this whole new world with you

(Jasmine:) A whole new world
(Aladdin:) A whole new world
A new fantastic point
(Both:) No one to tell us no or where to go
(Jasmine:) Or say were only dreaming
(Aladdin:) A whole new world
(Jasmine:) Every time the sun rises
(Aladdin:) With new horizons to pursue
(Jasmine:) Every morning it gets better
(Both:) I’ll chase them anywhere, theres time to spare
(Jasmine:) Anywhere
(Aladdin:) There’s time to spare
(Jasmine:) Let me share
(Aladdin:) This whole new world
(Both:) with you…

For you and me…

KS Zone Gathering 25, December, 2011

It has been a long time the zone has not held a gathering.
If I am not wrong, the last one was at CBD building to celebrate SOT students’ success.

251220113384251220113395251220113392251220113396

It was full with games after games.

251220113383251220113401251220113402251220113429

Beautiful people!

Pastor Kenneth shared with us three principles as we are about to enter 2012:
1.) Do not lose heart.
2.) Do not become complacent.
3.) Keep seeking the LORD.

Such a happy family!
