Thou Shalt Not Worry

Disclaimer: all the verses below are my own paraphrase.

“Do not worry about food, or drink or clothing just like those unbelieving nations.” (Matt 6:31-32)

There are too much uncertainty in this world.
Stock market crashed.
Train service broke down. (http://www.straitstimes.com/The-Big-Story/The-Big-Story-3/Story/STIStory_746367.html)
Bus collided with car. (http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_745987.html)
Accident in workplace (http://www.straitstimes.com/BreakingNews/Singapore/Story/STIStory_746118.html)
Just too name a few. Who could tell what is going to happen tomorrow?
The (unbelieving) world is looking for something firm, secure and certain.
Yet, there is no guarantee at all. Things maybe good today but turn sour tomorrow. Or, things might be bad today then turn worse tomorrow.

“For I know the thoughts I have toward you: thoughts of peace, future and hope” (Jeremiah 29:11)

Yet, this is something certain we, believers, can be sure of.
God has planned wonderful things in store for us.
God has prepared a bright future for us even if it looks gloomy around us today.

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all its righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matt 6:33)

Yet, there is one condition: we need to seek first God’s kingdom. In other words, we need to submit to God’s supreme rule.
The wonderful future is ours if we obey Him.

So, what do we choose:
1) to reject God’s rule and to trust in our own wisdom to navigate through the uncertainty?
or
2) to trust God and obey Him as He is the King?
