CG Dinner 27, February, 2014

Hmm, my CG had not had fellowship session for some time.
So, yesterday we had one instead of the usual CG meeting.
Just nice. I was very hungry even though I had taken dinner.

It was actually pretty much a ‘temptation’ session for me.
I should avoid oily food, that is.
Well then, can you guess which one is my meal?

Pastor Kong’s Sermon 22, February, 2014: How to Fireproof Your Faith

Ex 33:14, Judg 6:16, 2 Cor 6:16
It’s possible to find rest in the midst of fire because God is with us.
God will walk and dwell among us all.

3 steps to fireproof our faith:

1.) Thanksgiving
1 Thes 5:16-18
Rejoice always in good or bad things.
When we find it hard to give thanks, we can remind ourselves of His past and current blessings.
In fact, we can always thank Lord Jesus for His sacrifice.

2.) Praise
We thank God for what He has done. We praise God for who He is.
He is the Healer and the Creator.
Praise expresses our faith. Praise involves sacrifice.
We put aside our own disappointment and anxiety then we praise God by declaring His character.
Heb 13:15, Ps 149:6-9
We continually praise God. Even if we can’t praise God through lips, we can praise God through thought.
God will move to fight on our behalf as we sing praise to Him.
Luke 10:17-21
Rejoice: agalliao. Lord Jesus leaped for joy.

3.) Worship
It isn’t about getting what we want. It’s about staying close to God. God isn’t looking for worship.
John 4:23
God is looking for true worshipers.
Thanksgiving relates to God’s goodness. Praise relates to God’s greatness. Worship relates to His holiness and loveliness.
When we worship God, we don’t have personal agenda. Worship is about love to God and not about our needs.
Worship: proskuneo: to lean forward to kiss.
Worship comes with attitude of submission, not aggression. Even if the provision and deliverance never come, we can still submit to Him.
The heart of worship is the worship that comes from the heart.
Surrendering to God can be painful as it may be born in trial and suffering.

Olympus Camera

Bought this camera last year.
Initially it worked normally. However, one day it stopped working.
Well, I had no idea what happened. I read the manual times and again but I could not solve it.
Yesterday I brought this to Olympus Care Center at Tiong Bahru.
It turned out that the engineer simply updated the software, then the camera functioned normally.
Yay! My camera is revived! Now I can take a lot more nice photos!

Pastor Kong’s Sermon 15, February, 2014: Love Is

The most important thing in life is relationship. Our relationship determines happiness, success and character.
The essence of any great relationship is love. What is love?

1.) Love is chemistry.
It is a feeling. I enjoy the presence of that person. We can feel the click.
Feeling in love is incredible feeling: like to talk, think and object of affection.
Gen 29:20
Jacob liked Rachel so much. It was a love at first sight.
Song 2:5
Shulamite was so in love. When a couple is in love, the brain releases much pleasure chemicals.

2.) Love is choice
Love feeling may dwindle over time when the baby comes, promotion in work or ministry. Marriage requires hard work to maintain.
1 Cor 13:4-8
Love is a choice we have to make again and again.
We are not perfect. When we are about to get angry, we then should remember that love is kind.
Loving in word and action. Loving action will produce loving feeling.
Rev 2:4-5
Fallen out of love? We should do things we used to do while dating.
True love is never passive. “I’m gonna court her all over again.”
To love is to benefit others at the expense of self. We always decide to treat others well even if others do not do the same.

3.) Love is a commitment.
Gen 24:67
It was arranged marriage.
Commitment is the foundation of marriage. Isaac was committed  to marriage then he loved Rebeccah.
A marriage is permanent agreement, a covenant.
Mal 2:16
Let’s replace divorce with commitment.
Commitment: willing to be unhappy while working at it.

Valentine Weekend CHC Service 15, February, 2014

Last weekend was a Valentine weekend. Pastor Kong preached a fantastic sermon regarding love.
I shall post his sermon next time. In summary, love is chemistry, choice and commitment.
Canon James Wong and sister Esther taught the congregation their recipe of a long lasting marriage: to always have Lord Jesus at the center of marriage.
The highlight of the service was the renewal of wedding vow.
The video above shows such a touching occasion.
Well, the church really encouraged me to get married soon. Sweeeettt! ~ ~ ~

Team 2 Outing 16, February, 2014

Yoooosh! Had the fifth outing with team 2 last Sunday!
We went to Aloha Loyang, had BBQ and chalet there!
The place was pretty far from the nearest bus stop. Hence, it was an exercise time too.

160220147278 160220147279 160220147283

The guys were busy cooking the food. Well, the ladies also came and helped cooking.
For me, I was busy…. finishing the food!

A teammate was showing off his skill in cooking.

160220147276 160220147277 160220147288

They look nice, agree?

Another teammate brought this tasty ice cream too!

160220147294 160220147295 170220147299

The guys passed flowers to the sisters. Well, the guys gotta practice how to woo girls, that’s why.

Our happy team 2.
Most likely I will have fun with them in the series of events conducted under Makan Connexion.
Stay tuned for more juicy news, ok?

Book Review XXII: The Proving Ground

Fantastic book. I really recommend it. It is systematic, concise, short and sweet.
Every page I read felt like telling me to reexamine my life. I should get hold of Pastor Kevin Gerald’s other books as well.

God tests Christians from time to time to promote us. While God doesn’t tempt anyone, He may allow it as a form of tests too.
There are 9 tests Christians generally encounter. Pastor Kevin Gerald gave tips on how to pass the tests.

1.) Test of small things.
It comes to prove our potential for greater opportunity.
How to pass this test?
We should see problems as opportunities, treat small opportunities as if they were our doorway to greater ones, show motivation in the small things of our everyday life, and make no excuses.

2.) The motivation test.
It comes upon a person who is doing the right thing, to prove why they are doing what they are doing.
We need to have the right reasons for going to church and giving, for example.
Motivation is a matter of the heart. Hence, we should always pay attention to our heart.
We may have wrong motives in doing the right things. Nevertheless, we shouldn’t stop doing a good thing. We should simply change the reason.

3.) The credibility test
It comes to prove our reliability and worthiness. We need to increase in favor with God and man.
Credibility can’t be given. We must earn credibility when it comes to competence, personality and character.

4.) The wilderness test.
It comes in the form of drought or dry season and it requires us to make necessary changes to enter the next level of prosperity.
We should keep an attitude of gratitude, fix the problem and not the blame, and should not look back.
It is important to remember in the wilderness that delay isn’t equal to God denying our prayer request and man cannot stop God’s blessing.

5.) The authority Test
It comes to prove our respect for the authority that God has put in our lives.
To pass this test we should focus on our attitude toward authority. Our greatest test comes when we disagree with the authority.
The right attitude includes: submission, respect, obedience and honor.
The wrong attitude includes: rebellion, sedition, and insurrection.
The authority may have had a wrong decision, moral failure, immature action, done unfair treatment and discrimination.
Nevertheless, there are at least two right responses to wrong authority:
1.) appeal to higher authority.
2.) peaceful withdrawal from the authority’s jurisdiction.

6.) The warfare Test
It occurs when we are in the will of God and are experiencing problems.
This test will prove how we respond to adversity.
To pass this test, we need to possess the heart of a champion: the ability to take and give a punch.

7.) The offense test
It will come to prove that you are not easily offended and that you have the potential to readily forgive others.
Offenses will come even if we do the right thing.
To pass this test, we should be ready to overlook offenses and to get over it.

8.) The test of time
It comes to prove the quality of your patience and confidence in God through the seasons in life.
To pass this test, we need to make a plan and include God and others in the plan.
In addition, we need to consider how our thought, word and action will affect us in long term.

9.) The Lordship Test
It occurs when we are in a position where we must choose to obey God over natural instincts.
To pass this test, we must believe that God is always right and we must obey Him.
It isn’t just in words, but we also obey Him in action.

Red Banana!!!

Yup, believe it or not. There is red banana.
The day before, I had a joke with god-family regarding brown banana.
The next day, guess what… I found this red banana in a convenient store!!!

Well, initially it was hard and raw. I had a hard time chewing it.
After a long waiting time, it was ripe on its own.. and.. it went into my tummy!

100220147262 100220147263

Red on the outside.. yellow in the inside. Nice!
