Once there was a king who has an intimate assistant. This assistant has been the king’s dearest and closest friend for a very long time. He has his assistant along with him in all of his journeys and struggles. This assistant has a weird habit of saying “Praise the Lord! God is good all the time and all the time God is good”. Whatever happens to them, be it good or bad, he never fails to acclaim “Praise the Lord! God is good all the time! And all the time God is good!” Whenever they win, when they survived an attack of mountain bandits or when they were caught outside in a terrible storm in the night, the assistant acclaims “Praise the Lord! God is good all the time and all the time God is good.” The king kept on noticing this but just didn’t mind it at all. He just thought his assistant is a little crazy.

One day as they were traveling across the desert, the king accidentally fell down from his horse, to which the assistant smiled and acclaimed “Praise the Lord! God is good all the time! And all the time God is good!” the king felt upset and reprimanded his assistant thinking that he was mocking him.

Bad things.
Who likes bad things to happen to them?
Hence, we plan. We strategize. We can consider different factors in any circumstance to make sure bad things do not happen.
Alas, sometimes, bad things still can happen no matter how careful we are.
We live in a fallen, cursed world. Bad things happen even beyond our control.
God is the good God.
He never planned any bad things to happen in His original design.
Due to sin, this world is cursed. He allowed bad things to happen to everyone.
Nevertheless, God is the creative God.
Although He never needs any bad thing to accomplish His plan, He can still use bad thing to do so.
The king and his assistant in the story above experienced bad thing.
Yet, in the end they understood God’s creativity in the midst of bad thing.

Trust God. Trust God always.
Even in the midst of bad thing.
