No Point in Stealing

“Stolen bread tastes sweet, but it turns to gravel in the mouth”
-Proverbs 20:17-

Interesting verse. There are three things to note from this verse:

1. Stolen bread tastes sweet.
Theft, like any other sin, brings pleasure albeit temporary.
The LORD never teaches shortcut in order to gain money.
Instead, He requires diligence.
Diligence is never easy and there is no immediate pleasure when one has to work hard.

What will happen when we steal?

2.) It turns to gravel.

Lord Jesus has the power to change stone into bread. It is called miracle.
However, when a bread turns into stone, it is called curse.
Stolen money, in the end, can never give true enjoyment to the theft as the curse of God is upon him/her.

Is that all? No. There is something worse coming.

3.) in the mouth.
What will happen if we chew stones in our mouth?
We will lose our teeth.
Similarly, not only can the theft never enjoy the stolen money, but also the stolen money will somehow harm him/her.

Do not steal. That’s God’s 8th commandment.
It is better to work hard and receive His blessing.
Stolen money only brings His curse.
