Pastor Sun’s Sermon 20, February, 2016 Our Weakness His Strength

God does not need anyone of us to be strong.
We, on the other hand, want to be always strong. We want to be the best we can be.
In reality, many times we fail. We often feel powerless
Nevertheless, God wants us to be strong in a way that reflects His love for us.
In our weakness, we see God’s strength taking over.

In Exodus, the Israelites were surrounded by the Red Sea, the desert and the Egyptian army.
Exodus 14:11-14
They were angry. Yet, Moses told them God would fight for them.
Exodus 15:2
In their absolute weakness, God became their song and salvation.
God could have turned them into a nation of Samsons. Why didn’t He?
Judges 15:16
Yet, God did not do that. Samson did not even praise God when he was in the place of weakness.
God is our song and salvation only when we realize God is the only option. He uses our weakness.

2 Cor 12:7
Apostle Paul did not like being weak. He had thorn in his flesh.
It could be persecution or eyesight problem.
Lord Jesus did not remove weakness. He gave His grace instead.
When we have exhausted all ability and alternative, when we have come at the end of ourselves, His strength will kick in.

Apostle Paul even delighted in weakness, insult and hardship.
2 Cor 12:10
He let Christ take over. When he got weaker, the stronger Christ became.
Weakness is the occasion for His strength to kick in.

We may be weak. However, we must not be fearful.
Isaiah 41:10
Why must we not fear? Because God is with us.
He will flatten event the mountain before us.
He will make sure our life does not fall apart. Much of our fear, after all, are irrational and blown out of proportion.
