CG Sermon 4, March, 2016

Ephesians 1:1-2
Apostle Paul wrote the church in Ephesus which was the size of small cell group.
We should greet each other in grace.
Grace = unmerited favor from God.
It does not matter what we have done, what our mistakes are, we receive unmerited favor from God.
It is not the intentional mistake.
Peace = it is not the absence of worries, it is wholeness in heart, no matter what happens, we are not troubled on the inside.
Because God favors us, we will receive favor from others.
Our legal standing in God is we walking in grace and peace of God.

Ephesians 1:3-6
Before the creation of the world. God predestined us to be His adopted sons and daughters.
In legal terms, we are the heir together with Christ. Whatever Christ owns, we can own too.

Ephesians 1:7-8
By right we are separated from God. However, Jesus paid full price for our redemption so we can become His children.
Many times, the devil reminds us again and again of our past mistake.
However, we need to remind ourselves of His forgiveness. There is no condemnation in Christ.

Eph 1:9-10
The mystery of God’s will = to bring to unity of all things in Christ.
Why did God take so long to bring forth Christ? We may never know the answer.
In the end, God will bring all dominion under Christ.
When Jesus died on the cross, the devil thought by killing Jesus, he would cancel God’s promise.
However, God is smarter.
We are so privileged that we can look back and learn about Christ’s work.

Eph 1:11-13, 1 Cor 1:19-25
We are predestined according to His plan.
Who are predestined? Those who hear the Gospel and believe in the Gospel.
It doesn’t mean we are licensed to do whatever we want.
We may make mistake, but we are not going to lose salvation easily.
Every believer is marked/sealed with the Holy Spirit.
We have to open up our hearts so the Holy Spirit can work in our hearts.
We have to surrender every areas of our lives to Him. Unsurrendered area will become foot hold for the devil.
The Gospel is simple: Jesus died and was raised on the third day. We should accept Him.
For many skeptics, it will defy logic.
Nevertheless, it is through the foolishness of the message that we know who will be saved and who will not.
When we evangelize, we should also mention this basic truth even when it seems foolish.

Eph 1:17-18
No matter what sermon we hear, it is more important to know God.
We need to know our inheritance in the kingdom of God.
We need to know the power of God which resurrected Christ. Even we go bankrupt, God can make us bounce back.
