Excitement In God

“I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.”
– Psalm 122:1 (KJV) –

Let’s consider various spiritual disciplines.
Prayer, worship, service, fasting, Bible reading, giving, evangelizing, etc.
What do we feel as carry out these disciplines?
Do we do them out of sense of duty? Or is there other feeling?

Here is in this verse. The psalmist feels glad to come to the house of the LORD.
In other words, he looks forward to it. He feels excited about it.

How excited are we for things of God?

Some of us have been walking with God for years.
Gradually, unknowingly, that passion, that joy, that zeal, that excitement subside along the way.
Many times spiritual disciplines become a routine instead of something we really look forward to.

While doing all these disciplines out of commitment is commendable in itself,
wouldn’t it be wonderful we are naturally and constantly excited about them?

Let’s take going to church, for example.
Instead of dragging our feet to be there weeks after weeks, we naturally zoom to church out of excitement to see God.

Just in case our excitement has run out, what do we do then?
Ask God to refill our excitement. As we ask, we will receive from Him.

Remember the widow at Zarephath and Elijah?
God kept refilling her bin of flour and jar of oil throughout the drought.
Surely, God can do the same thing with our excitement for His kingdom.

Let this be our prayer today, “Lord, help me to be excited for You.”
