(Thanks a lot, Peter Ling, for the awesome photo!!!)

Another dinner fellowship with the Connexion guild members.
There were close to 30 of us. So, we were split into 3 different tables.
Pretty good. Had a chance to fellowship with the members who are not that active in the group chat.
Just Acia should be very happy seeing us as their customers.

Nice photo, isn’t it?
It is a like a big happy family photo!! With me as the youngest child. I am still 18, after all~~~

See ya in the next Connexion outing!

The Rod For The Fool

“Guide a horse with a whip, a donkey with a bridle, and a fool with a rod to his back!”
– Proverb 26:3 (NLT) –

Imagine a wild horse in a stable.
Before we ride on it, we put a bridle on its mouth.
When we ride on it, there are times we want to stop its movement.
Hence, we pull the bridle.
Without the bridle, the wild horse will go around senselessly, hurting others and itself.

Who is this fool?
One definition of this fool is someone who acts or speaks without thinking.

“Wise people think before they act; fools don’t–and even brag about their foolishness”
– Proverb 13:16 (NLT) –

What about us? Do we act or speak without thinking like a fool?
If we do, we should repent and change this habit.
What will happen if we refuse to repent?

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”
– Proverb 22:15 (KJV) –

We are God’s children and He loves us so much.
Hence, God will use the rod of correction to make us repent.
Without this rod, we will do things senselessly like a wild horse in the illustration above.
He does not want to see us harming ourselves through foolish act.

With the help from the Holy Spirit, we will grow wiser and wiser each day.

Getting Dumped Makes A Man Stronger

(Image taken from

Pastor Kong’s Sermon 20, August, 2016 Power

Matt 10:7-8
The kingdom of God is about power.
When doctors cannot do it, Lord Jesus can do it.
Our advancement in God has to be founded in the power of God.

1 Cor 2:4-5
Our faith is not in the cleverness of men. It is in the power of God.
Power = ability to get things done.

Every power encounter starts with desperation.
Power encountered is fuelled by vision.
Vision = Unfolding of God’s divine plan and purpose.

Hab 2:2-3
When God shows us the plan, He will give the power to complete it.

Luke 9:1
Lord Jesus gave them power to fulfil their divine assignment.
All demons cannot stop the assignment from God.
We are unstoppable, indomitable.
Though the vision tarries, the vision will come to pass.

We must choose to obey the vision by faith.
Proverb 29:18
When it is God who calls, no devil can send us back.
He gives us the power to do the job.

In everything we do, we must week the vision of God.
It is wise to ask God, “God, is this the business from you?” “God, is this person the right one from you?”

Rm 8:29-30
As the destiny child, God provides us everything we need so we won’t live a destitute life.

The Holy Spirit is the custodian of God’s vision.
Acts 2:17, Joel 2:7-11
With the Holy Spirit in us, we have tremendous energy, we stay united and we will not succumb to dangers.
Vision has a voice.
It takes vision to experience greatness.
There is a group of visionary people. That visionary camp will become great.
God wants to raise up church filled with the visionary.

Every divine vision tarries as the kingdom of darkness will fight against it.
Nevertheless, the guarantee is sure. The vision will come to pass.

Why must we persevere with a vision?

1 Kings 8:23-24
What He has spoken with His mouth, He will fulfill it with His hand.

With the vision:

1. God goes before us.
Ex 23:20, Isaiah 45:2-3
He clears the path from the opposition standing in the way.

2. God goes with us
With God by our side, we are indomitable.

3. God works with us
Mark 16:20

4. God works in and through us
Phil 2:13

5. God works for us
Rm 8:28, 1 Thes 5:24

Nothing will stop God’s divine purpose.
God expect us to expect a power encounter.

A vision will receive many challenges.
Nevertheless, even in intense spiritual warfare, there is the grace of God in it.

Vision of CHC. What Pastor Kong saw:

To build a church with strong spiritual atmosphere of faith and purity.
Faith is still the greatest asset in CHC. Hence, we need to feed on the word of God.
The word of God intoxicates. The more we study it, the more we live it out.
We need to live a consecrated life to God.

Army of trained workers throughout Asia.
There will be strong churches in Asia and beyond which impact the society.

Vision is the platform for power encounter.

CHC 2.0
Focuses on our core values, serving the purpose of God with effectiveness and sustainability.

A vision is not a destination. It is an adventure.

Seeking Honor For Self?

“It’s not good to eat too much honey, and it’s not good to seek honors for yourself.”
– Proverb 25:27 (NLT) –

Achievement. Success. Victory.
Who does not like to enjoy one?
After such a hard work, it is a good idea to enjoy the harvest.

However, here lies the temptation.
What are we gonna do with the success?
What do  we feel about it?
If we are not careful in introspecting our heart, we may end up seeking honor for ourselves.
In other words, we may fall in the trap of pride.

The danger of pride is real, especially when we feel we are on the top of the world.

How do we prevent seeking honor for ourselves?
In short, we can redirect the honor to

1. God
Obviously, we need to acknowledge God as He is the source of our success.
He has given us ability, wisdom and opportunity that we may achieve success.

If we read a book, we find the author thanking other contributors to the book.
Many times our success is not purely our own effort.
There are many others who help us along the way.
It is good to honor them as well in the midst of our success

Let us be careful not to seek honor for ourselves, shall we?

Fantastic prayer meeting with Missio Dei members!
As usual, we had the chance to enjoy strong presence of God!
Then, we heard praise from mission trip who had ministered in Indonesia.
It is heartening to hear how the youth accepted Lord Jesus.
The LORD cleared the weather for the team to continue their evangelism outreach too.

Can’t wait to attend the next prayer meeting with Missio Dei again ~~~

The Bringer of Good News

“Good news from far away is like cold water to the thirsty”
– Proverb 25:25 (NLT) –

There is an emotional thirst.
Some people who are in distress.
They can’t seem to help themselves.
In fact, they feel so isolated from others that others seem so far away.

What is our job as their friends?
We need to tell them the good news.
Some forms of good news we can give include:

  1. Solution
What is the solution to thirst? Water.
Similarly, if we know the solution to their issue, as much as possible, we need to help them from their distress.
As it is said many times: we find a need and meet it, we find a hurt and heal it.
In addition, it is not good to delay in helping them. (Proverb 3:27)
After all, we ourselves do not like it if others delay in helping us.
Nevertheless, if we really cannot help them, then we should politely say no to them.
  2. Encouragement
There are times when we do not know the solution to their difficulty.
Or, they themselves already know the solution.
However, all they need is a listening ear.
We can show them sympathy and encouragement, to tell them there is light at the end of the tunnel.
  3. The Gospel
Lastly, some people are doing well emotionally. However, they have not accepted Lord Jesus in their heart.
    They thirst spiritually.
Our calling as a Christian is to share with them the good news of the Gospel which quenches their spiritual thirst.

Let’s be the carrier of good news wherever we are, shall we?

Quarrelsome Wife

“It’s better to live alone in the corner of an attic than with a quarrelsome wife in a lovely home.”
-Proverb 25:24 (NLT) –

Quarrelsome wife.
In other words, a nagging wife (Holman Christian Standard Bible).
How does a wife become nagging?
Probably Dr. A. R. Bernard explained it best.

When God created Eve, He designed Eve to help Adam.
In the heart of every wife is the desire to help her husband which is manifested in the form of giving advice.
On the other hand, God has designed husband to be the head of his wife.
He is the leader in the household.

Here is where the tension may arise.
While a wife perceives giving advice as a mean to help, a husband may misunderstand it as interference to his leadership at home.

How do we solve this issue? Following is Dr. A. R. Bernard’s recommendation.
A husband should be more understanding that when his wife gives advice, she is really acting out of God’s design.
The wife, on the other hand, should give advice on important matters, not on every single matter.

Truly with God’s grace, it is possible to solve quarrel at home.
