Handling Responsibility

So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas and said to them, ‘Do business till I come.’
Then came the first, saying, ‘Master, your mina has earned ten minas.’
And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’
Luke 19:13, 16-17

We know this parable very well.
The master tasked each of his servant to do business with just one mina.
In the end, the servants who managed to multiply the mina were rewarded.
There are a few ways to interpret this parable.
For now, let’s focus on the phrase: you were faithful in a very little.

Why did the master call the servant faithful?
Because the master entrusted certain responsibility (of doing business) to the servant and the servant handled the responsibility well.

Let us now examine our lives.
Certainly there are responsibilities God has placed in our lives: personal spiritual growth, work, ministry, etc.
How well do we carry out those responsibilities so far?
If we do not handle them well, God will not promote us into greater responsibilities.
If we are able to handle them well, chances are we can handle greater responsibilities God will give us.
