Mature Sons/Daughters of God

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Rm 8:14

In Greek language, there is a difference between babies/immature sons and mature sons.
Teknon = babies/immature sons
Huios = mature sons

In the natural, any parents desire to see their immature children grow into maturity as there is certain responsibility only mature children can handle.
The same is true in the supernatural.
God wants to see His children grow into maturity.

What is the striking difference between immature and mature Christians?
As the passage above says, the mature sons of God (huios) are led by the Holy Spirit.
Growing into mature Christians does not depend on how much sermon we hear or how much we know of the Bible.
Instead, it depends on our sensitivity and obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit.
In contrast, immature sons of God are led solely by their mind.

Why do we need the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives?
Because the Holy Spirit will point out to us the sinful habit that we need to deal with.
He intercedes for us (Rm 8:26)
Sometimes, when we forget certain word from God, the Holy Spirit will remind us (John 14:26)
At some other times, we are faced with difficult options. When we cannot decide, the Holy Spirit will lead us in the right decision as we feel His peace in us.

How do we sensitize ourselves and obey His leading?
By drawing close to God through quiet time.
As we pray, worship and read His word, the Holy Spirit will speak to us.
As we quieten our hearts, we can sense His leading.
We then need to obey His leading.
As we hear and obey His voice daily, our maturity in Him grows.

Let us draw near to God and grow into maturity in Him, shall we?
