Returning Home

A person who strays from home is like a bird that strays from its nest.
Proverb 27:8 (NLT)

A nest to a bird is like a home to a person.
We all need home, a place we can return to.
We should never stray from home.
Why do we need home?

1. Home is the place of training.
When we were young, our parents trained us in practical life skill such as walking and language.

2. Home is the place of rest.
Now that we have grown and are working, we still need to return home so we can get enough rest. It wouldn’t be nice if we stray from home and end up sleeping in office, for example.

3. Home is the place of comfort and strength
Life can be tough from time to time. We may experience heartbreak and setback. At home, we feel the acceptance. Our fellow family members will refresh us so we can rise up again.

Just like we need earthly home, our spirit needs spiritual home.
Where is the home for our spirit? It is the presence of God, be it in our private prayer or in corporate worship.

1. The presence of God is the place of training.
In church, as we serve in various ministry, we learn practical life skill such as communication, punctuality and handling responsibility

2. The presence of God is the place of rest.
Busyness of life can make us spiritually burn out and dry. We can always return to His presence that He may recharge our spirit.

3. The presence of God is the place of comfort and strength.
The Holy Spirit is the Comforter. We can always turn to Him and surrender our broken heart, failure and shattered dream.

Let us not stray from Him. Instead, let us always return to His presence.
