Righteous Authority

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice
But when a wicked man rules, the people groan
Proverb 29:2

Righteous leaders perceive their leadership position as the opportunity to serve their followers.
They do not take advantage of their position for self-gain.
When Solomon first rose to the throne, his chief concern was to judge or govern the LORD’s people (1 Kings 3:9)
In contrast, wicked rulers are selfish and tend to unnecessarily burden their followers.

How do we ensure there are more righteous leaders?
There are at least 2 things we can do.

First, we can pray that God blesses the current government we have with wisdom that they may govern well.
After all, we can live in peace if we have wise leaders.

Second, if God calls us into a position of authority, then we need to embrace it and do our best to serve the people.
Just like Lord Jesus served us first, hence we should also serve others.
