Verse of the Day: Psalm 50:15

And call upon Me in the day of trouble:
I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
-Psalm 50:15-

To be honest,
sometimes I feel saturated whenever I listen to a sermon which lifts faith up.
I think it is because I have been hearing the same topic times and again since the days of me attending church service in Indonesia.
It’s been the same topic: keep your faith strong for God will deliver you.

things become extremely different when I am really overwhelmed with trouble.
Somehow, I feel frozen and I do not know what to do.
This is when the Holy Spirit brings into my remembrance the faith sermon.

Reminder to self:
God will deliver me no matter how difficult my situation is.
Difficult situation shows that I am weak.
If I can make it through the situation in one piece, that only goes to show that God is the source of deliverance.
Hence, all glory goes back to God alone.

Lord Jesus will deliver me.
Definitely. Absolutely.

Honoring Parents

A friend decided to work as a property agent.
At first he didn’t make much sales.
Nevertheless, he still set aside some money for his parents.

Lord Jesus once rebuked Pharisees in the issue of honoring parents.
They taught that the believers were exempted from giving to parents as long as the believers gave to God.
In essence, Lord Jesus corrected their teaching: the believers are to give both to God and parents.

When we were young and fragile, parents were there to help us.
They fed us, educated us and prepared us for future.
However, I found this saying true (I do not know who first stated this):

While we are busy growing up,
let us not forget
our parents are growing old.

When our parents grow old, their body gets weaker. Hence, they are more prone to sickness.
They may retire. Hence, they may not have any income.

As we grow up, our responsibility becomes more obvious: to support our aging parents, be it through money or quality time.
Just as they first sacrificed for us, let us now sacrifice for them too.
The beauty is: God will reward our sacrifice to parents.

“Honor your father and mother
which is the first commandment with a promise
so that it may be well with you and that you may enjoy long life on earth.”

-Ephesians 6:2-3-
